Joshua 9:14-15 “And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord. And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.
Joshua and the people of Israel were, for the most part, following God’s plan in taking possession of the promise land.  There were told not to make alliances with the people of the land because of their spiritual wickedness.
Hearing of Israel’s success a group of people called the Gibeonites sent ambassadors to make an alliance with Israel. They tricked Israel by appearing to be from a long distance away. (When in fact they were within the promise land)
The key phrase for today is, “and asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord”.
The men of Israel did not take time to talk to God. They figured they could handle it themselves.
They allowed the natural conclusions to be the ultimate deciders as to what was right or wrong to do.
Today let us spend the time it takes to seek and determine God’s leadership.
Let us pray, read His word and seek the godly counsel He provides.

Deuteronomy 20:1 “When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest
horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD
thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.”

Do you ever feel outnumbered?
Do you ever feel that the obstacles before you are greater than the resources within you?
“Don’t be afraid!”
The Lord, his presence and power, is all you need.
Today let us place our faith in the sufficiency and accessibility of God’s power.
Remember, “Faith is the transfer of trust”.
Let us transfer our trust from us to Him!
